Standard Ferret Lead – Handmade for Safe Adventures Together!

The perfect companion to our Standard Figure of 8 Harness, these handmade Standard Ferret Leads use our standard nylon and cotton mix cord — the same soft-but-strong cord used throughout our Standard range. Designed to keep your adventures safe, secure and stylish, they’re built for years of ferret walkies.

Each lead is individually hand crocheted from this soft-but-strong nylon and cotton cord, creating a lead that’s comfortable to hold while being incredibly durable. Rather than relying on glue or metal crimps, the ends are carefully crocheted back into the lead itself, creating a neat, secure finish that’s designed not to work loose during normal use.

Every lead features a generous wrist loop that comfortably fits even the biggest wrists, so it’s quick and comfortable to slip on before heading out for your next ferret adventure. After all, you’ll have enough waiting to do while your ferret investigates every blade of grass!

Available in the same fantastic colours as our Standard Figure of 8 Harness, you can choose a matching set or mix and match to create your own unique combination.

Please Note

Every lead is crocheted entirely by hand, so the finished length is approximately 1.5 metres. As every lead is made by Hannah, the exact length can vary slightly depending on her crochet tension… which may or may not depend on how much tea she’s had, how many ferrets have “helped”, or simply what sort of day she’s having!

Rest assured, they’re all made to be a lovely practical length for ferret adventures.

Safety Note

Always attach your lead to a properly fitted harness – never to a collar, especially for ferrets. A harness spreads any pressure safely across the body, whereas a collar can easily cause injury or allow an escape.

Although designed with ferrets in mind, our leads can be used with many other small pets (and even some larger ones!) provided they are attached to a suitable, well-fitting harness.

For maximum security when walking your ferret, always place your hand through the wrist loop rather than simply gripping the handle. Ferrets aren’t usually strong enough to pull you off your feet like an excited dog, but a secure grip helps prevent accidental drops if your little explorer suddenly spots something interesting!

Ferrets are clever little escape artists, so they should always be supervised whenever they’re out exploring.

Looking After Your Lead

Your lead is made for adventures! If it gets muddy, simply hand wash in warm water with a little mild soap, rinse thoroughly and leave it to air dry before your next walkies.
